We would like to begin this edition by giving you an overview of where we are currently.

2018 was a very exciting year for Fundamental Underwriters! Because of you, our inaugural campaign was a great success. We appreciate our wonderful agent partnerships and are extremely thankful for all you did to help us exceed expectations.

A few highlights include:

  • Bound two Texas accounts for approximately $5 million in Q1 and Q2
  • Our partnership with Origami Risk
  • Additional expansion for a total of 18 states: AL, AR, CO, GA, IA, IL, IN, MO, NE, NJ, OH, OK, OR, PA, TN, TX, VA and WA

As we continue to develop as a company, we will provide resources to help you spread the word, such as the recently completed Fundamental explainer video. We encourage you to share this with prospective clients to help them better understand Fundamental Underwriters and the value we can provide their business. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you again for all you have done. We look forward to finishing strong together in 2019 and we hope you enjoy Fundamental Transmission!

Leadership Update

We are pleased to announce that Abel Travis has been named vice president of Fundamental Underwriters. Abel joined AF Group in 2018 as vice president of Underwriting and Product Innovation and has developed an impressive background in research, strategy, product development and underwriting with other major insurance carriers nationwide.

“Abel is an exceptional leader and we are fortunate to have his experience and expertise on our leadership team,” said Lisa Corless, president and CEO of AF Group. “His contributions toward our growth and success have been significant, and I am confident he will bring insight and creative solutions that will best serve our valued agent partners and customers.”

Recent Accolades

During the past several weeks, AF Group and its brands have received several significant accolades that we’re excited to celebrate with our agent partners — just in time for the for the holidays!

First, our A.M. Best Rating was recently upgraded from “A-” to “A” (Excellent) with a “stable” outlook. This great news is an indicator of our continued financial strength and strong net income, underwriting income and surplus growth along with record-setting premium retention.

Next, we were also recently recognized as a Ward’s 50 company, an award presented to top insurance industry performers who demonstrate consistent superior performance. For this honor, Ward’s examined nearly 3,000 property/casualty and life/health insurance companies, and their recognition of AF Group was based on our outstanding financial results “in the areas of safety, consistency, and performance over a five-year period.”

Finally, AF Group has once again been named to the list of “Best Places to Work in Insurance” by Business Insurance magazine! This is our 10th year on the Best Places list and our return to the #1 position in the large employer category – and an honor that acknowledges the strong team and culture across AF Group.

While each of these accomplishments reflect well on our organization and on the teammates that are committed to serving you and your customers, these awards also reflect the success of our continued partnership with you, our valued agent partners.

Our sincerest thank you and best wishes to you this holiday season. We look forward to many more successful years to come.
